VoIP

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. It is a technology that allows voice communications and multimedia sessions to be delivered over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet, in the form of audio and video packets.

VoIP technology began to emerge in the late 1990s. Early implementations were primarily used for internal communications within organizations. The first commercial VoIP service was launched by VocalTec in 1995. Over the years, advancements in technology and reductions in bandwidth costs have made VoIP more accessible and widely adopted for both business and personal use.

VoIP is used for making voice calls over the internet, replacing traditional telephone service. It can be used for individual calls, conference calls, and video conferencing. Businesses use VoIP for internal communications, customer service, and to reduce phone expenses. Individuals use it for personal calls, especially for long-distance or international calls.
